Fruit Salad Drama Game

Fruit salad, seen close up.

A true favourite!

Students sit on chairs in a circle and each student is given a name of a fruit (banana, apple, pear, orange etc etc.) One student (or teacher) stands in the middle (they don’t have a chair.) They shout out a fruit EG pear. All the ‘pears’ have to swap places with another ‘pear’ and the person in the middle tries to get to a chair. This game can go on forever!

Add an element of surprise by calling out ‘fruit salad’, this is where everyone has to swap places.

Name Plus Action

A great game to break the ice and get to know some new names!

Students stand in a circle.

Explain to your students that they must think of an action to go with their name, for example: a football kick or a ballerina twirl or a simple dance move or action. It could link to their character and personality or it could simple match the rhythm of their name-you decide.

Everyone then takes it in turn to demonstrate their action whilst saying their name at the same time. The rest of the class then repeat.

Extension: Remember the Action - this time students must remember the names and actions of the ones previous and challenge them to perform the actions accuratley. A little bit like ‘I went to the shops and I bought a bottle of milk, a pair of shoes…’
