If I do an English Literature A Level and a Performing Arts BTEC, could I do a joint English and Drama degree?

Well… that’s the shortened version of my question, I was just wondering if anybody could help me with this.

I want to be an English teacher and I’m aware that to achieve my aim, a back-up subject is required. I know that there are certain universities which do a combined course in English and Drama, which I think would be ideal.

My school offers an English Literature A Level and a Performing Arts semi BTEC, which can be taken in place of an A Level, along side two others.

I was wondering whether, if I take the English A Level and the Performing Arts BTEC, I might be able to get on to the combined course and then use the combined degree to become an English teacher with Drama as my second teaching subject.

Of course, this is all assuming I pass both the A Level and the degree, but I was just wondering if anybody could offer me any advice on this, as in a couple of weeks time I have to finalise my subject choices for sixth form and if it won’t be possible for me to become a teacher with these qualifications, then I’m going to take another A Level in place of Performing Arts.
