Promise You Won’t Get Mad: and other read-aloud plays for young adults

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Product Description
Each of the four plays in Promise You Won’t Get Mad deals with problems that young people might encounter. The dialogue is often humorous, but the plays bring up serious issues.

In the play, “Promise You Won’t Get Mad,” boys discover a way to play arcade games without paying for them. Is what they are doing really stealing? “It’s Not A Party. It’s A Get-Together” deals with peer pressure, lying to parents and taking responsibility. “Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore Art Thou Costume?” takes a look at the power of rumor and gossip, and “Election Day Blues” looks at the ups and downs of taking a risk.

The plays include questions for discussion, writing topics and other activities that will challenge students to think. Each play runs approximately 20-25 minutes and includes 15-17 roles. END
